An update
My husband, Chuck, has completed the first three courses toward being certified as a Lay Pastor. He’s already signed up for the next three courses (spring) and the last two courses (summer) which he’ll finish the end of July. He moved home to get us back together full time after four years with him in NM and me in TX. The most wonderful thing that happened in 2023.
My New Year’s Resolutions for 2024
Before I share my resolutions, I have a question.
What happened to 2023?
Everyone I know is expressing the same astonishment over 2023 zooming past as though Godzilla were in pursuit with the intention of finding someone with long fingernails to scratch his scaly back!
Yes, we still watch Godzilla movies. And we liked the one with Matthew Broderick. That scene where they were trying to move through the room with all the eggs still gives me chills.
Back to resolutions.
There are three that deal with writing.
I’m revising the book my editor loved two years ago so she can buy it!
After writing Forgive Me, Cindy in 2021, sending it to my editor at Harlequin, who loved it, but couldn’t buy it because it didn’t fit any of Harlequin’s twelve imprints, I left it on my computer because I couldn’t even think about revising it. It was perfect! How could I add/delete/ revise/change a single word? I couldn’t. Until now. Having distanced myself from the writing, I now know I can make the changes that will allow the book to satisfy the requirements for one of those imprints.
2. Once that’s done, I’ll write the book to follow Forgive Me, Cindy. It will be called Forgive Me, Maggie. Do you see a trend? After that book, I’ll write Cade’s book. It could be Forgive Me, Cade, or Forgive Me, Holly. Once I’ve plotted that book, I’ll know which title fits.
3. My third resolution is to write every week for Publishous on Medium. Also, for The Taoist Online. Substack will be once a month. I can handle that, easily.
4. Fourth will be to get back in the habit of cooking several times a week, creating leftovers to have between cookings. While Chuck lived in NM, I seldom cooked except for him when he came home every other weekend.
5. Fifth will be reading for pleasure every day of the year, something I didn’t do in 2023.
6. Sixth will be getting my mind around being a pastor’s wife. I never considered that would happen when we got married in 1971. We’ll reach 53 years on January 23, 2024. When it does, that will be the last major career change for both of us.
Your Resolutions?
I’d love to know what your top resolution will be for 2024.
Hugs and Happiness!
Linda
44 years of writing. 75 books published — so far. Determined to build a good income on Medium and with Harlequin this year. My novels have PLOT and FAMILY MEMBERS and SUBPLOTS!
Well you asked for it so here they are:
1) To fall back in love with writing again rather than it be about the money. To do this I’m going back to writing more fiction by doing the Bradbury 52 challenge write a short story every week. These are going onto Ream which I will try to grow a following on.
2) To read more classic books to show this love of reading through my new newsletter The Book Journal which if no one subscribes to fine I will still love writing it for me.
3) To get a healthier lifestyle so I can keep up with these kids.
4) To get to a place where I am more financially secure by spending more consciously and trying to grow my tutoring business.
I feel like I should have a fifth one, it’s something to work on. Happy New Year xx
