I'm Finally Able to Type Again!
It's been a busy, busy summer.
This year has been one medical event after another. It began in April, when my sweetie found out he had to have 40 radiation treatments for a recurrence in prostate cancer after five cancer-free years.
He began treatments in June, after I had a colonoscopy and found out I have chronic Diverticulitis, now Diverticulosis. A fairly restricted diet worked nicely.
Chuck lived at the American Cancer Association’s Hope Lodge in Lubbock, where anyone having cancer treatments can stay free. He supplied his food, but numerous organizations and schools provided suppers for everyone, once or twice a week, and put leftovers into the big refrigerator for anyone.
He’d come home each weekend, and I sent leftovers back with him.
Eight and a half weeks later, he finished #40, rang the gong, and moved back home.
As expected, he’s cancer-free again.
He was back home by the middle of August.
On Labor Day, September 2, a strong wave of dizziness slammed me into the floor. My right shoulder hit a table on the way down and broke the top of my humerus—the arm bone. It supposedly would’ve healed on its own, according to my doctors. But it didn’t.
The condyle on the top of the humerus collapsed inward, making surgery necessary. That was determined after 6 weeks.
I had a shoulder replacement on October 10, about 10 days ago. I’m just now able to type again with both hands, but I make a LOT of typos. It’s really hard to lose the use of your right arm/hand when that’s your dominant hand.
Without Chuck’s help, I would’ve been in a real fix. Have a mentioned I have the BEST HUSBAND on Earth?
I’ll begin PT next week after I see my surgeon on Wednesday.
I’ll do my best to keep writing SS newsletters. I truly appreciate your sticking with me through the silent months.
It’s actually cold here in West Texas for a change! I hope your autumn weather is as lovely as ours.
Hugs and Happiness,
Linda

I am so glad you are on the mend and that hubby is cancer free now. I wish I lived closer so I could help more than a couple of positive words. Take care my friend, we are always thinking of you.
Healing energy coming your way! Big hugs!
